The Launch of iPad may be Pushed Back by a Month

hardware-01-20100127 According to an Associated Press report, the launch of Apple’s anticipated iPad may be delayed until April.  The report cites a technology analyst’s note of an “unspecified production problem” affecting Apple’s Taiwan-based supplier.

“An unspecified production problem at the iPad’s manufacturer, Hon Hai Precision,” the analyst explains, “will likely limit the launch region to the US and the number of units available to roughly 300K in the month of March, far lower than the company’s initial estimate of 1,000K units.”

The “manufacturing bottleneck,” assuming it’s true, could mean that “the [iPad] launch will be delayed for a month,” Misek writes (as reported in Fortune and All Things Digital).

This is good news for the consumer. It gives those companies with potentially competing products additional time to get their products on the market. While the ipad is slick, it does have it’s drawbacks. Some of which are resolved with the competition. Go flash!
